Our AGM this year was held on Saturday 3 November 2018 in Uley Village Hall. It’s been another good trading year with revenues up 2% on 2016/17 generating a satisfactory profit of £12,342. Around 320 residents continue to hold shares in the enterprise. We continue to support our community by providing refreshments for local events such as fetes, and of course distributing grants through our Uley Community Spirit initiative. This year we gave out £3457 to:

  • Uley Millenium Green
  • Uley Playing Field Trust
  • Uley Society
  • Uley Under 5s Playgroup
  • Friends of Uley School
  • Uley with Owlpen & Nympsfield PCC

We are ever grateful for our committed pool of volunteers who keep the shop open 7 days a week through an exceedingly well-managed rota of short shifts. We held our annual New Year party and also other food & drink tasting gatherings at other times in the year for our volunteers.

We continue to make the shop even better, stocking what our customers need and want, and improving the layout and procedures to keep everything efficient and running for the benefit of the community.

Two committee members stood down – Carol Telling and Christine Kennedy, both of whom will continue to be engaged with us. We welcome new committee members so please get in touch if you are interested

Some big numbers for sales in 2017-18:

  • 1600+ sausage rolls
  • 20,000 newspapers
  • Nearly 6000 loaves of bread
  • Nearly 1500 tubs of ice cream
  • Nearly 90 John Daniel books
  • 1000+ bottles of wine

We look forward to next year when we celebrate our 7th birthday!
